Mexico City authorities arrested Brandon 'N', accused of qualified homicide and links to a criminal group. The arrest was the result of a joint security operation.


Suspect in Murder and Drug Trafficking Arrested in Mexico City

Authorities arrested Brandon 'N' this Saturday in the Iztapalapa borough of Mexico City. He is accused of the qualified homicide of a woman and of belonging to a criminal cell dedicated to the sale and distribution of drugs. In a press release, the Ministry of Security and Citizen Protection (SSPC) stated that the police action was carried out following investigations into a shooting attack that occurred in August 2024, in the Lomas de San Lorenzo neighborhood of the capital, where a woman lost her life. Regarding the operation, Mexico City's Citizen Security Secretary, Pablo Vázquez, reported on his X account that Brandon 'N', 27, was arrested in the same neighborhood where he allegedly committed the femicide in 2024. He also highlighted that the detainee 'has five investigation folders for different crimes, including organized crime and criminal association.' The operation was carried out by elements of the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena), the Navy Secretariat (Semar), the Attorney General's Office (FGR), and the National Guard (GN), in coordination with police from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) and members of the Attorney General's Office (FGJ) of the capital. As a result of intelligence and investigative work by local and federal authorities, Brandon 'N' was identified and arrested on Calle Rosas in the Lomas de San Lorenzo neighborhood. Regarding the five investigation folders, the SSPC explained that one is from 2023 for crimes against health in its drug dealing modality and criminal association, another prepared in 2024 for femicide; and three in the current year for extortion and criminal association, organized crime, and crimes against health in its drug dealing modality and illegal possession of a firearm. According to the media, Brandon 'N' has been identified as the leader of the criminal faction 'los Mal Portados' or 'Nuevo Imperio Cartel' that operates in the capital, State of Mexico, Morelos, and Guerrero.
